Single Vineyard Chardonnay, fruit sourced from ‘Bowyer Ridge Vineyard’, Adelaide Hills grown by the Rosback family.

Irrigated vines, on mica schist, North/South aspect 480-495m altitude. Sustainable Winegrowing Australia Certified Vineyard

After both working in Burgundy now 16yrs ago, we have a real passion for Chardonnay and wanted to embark on making a single vineyard wine from the Adelaide Hills. After much negotiation, we were very lucky to be able to access some fruit from the Bowyer Ridge Vineyard.

Hand-picked fruit, whole bunch pressed, the free run only was drained and 100% fermented in French oak barrels (25% new oak), majority being larger 500L puncheons. Post ferment the wine was left on lees in barrel for partial malolactic fermentation while stirring regularly to build texture.

The 2024 vintage shows finesse and graceful line with power, all the typical hallmarks of the Bowyer Ridge Vineyard are there with the volume wound up just a touch. The wine offers gloss and richness, white florals and white peach. Some flint for complexity, green almond husk and the hallmark grapefruit acidity that leaves a lingering salivating touch. This might just be our favourite release to date.

"White peach, grapefruit, almond, cinnamon and vanilla, green olive, with a light clip of struck match. It’s fine and flinty, an almond richness with bright and tangy mixed citrus, a bit of electricity about it, though it’s still cool, calm and collected. The finish has lime and lime rind bite, and heaps good length. A beautiful wine. It’s a toss up between 95 and 96 points for me, though the length, intensity and overall class gets me over the line."

"Combining intensity with thrilling verve is a bit of a trademark here, with all the winemaking tools that make chardonnay so compelling, but each exercised with due restraint. White nectarine, lemon curd and yellow grapefruit are accented with salted praline, roasted hazelnuts and crystallised ginger, the balance of textural sway, fruit intensity, acid verve and fine pithiness are à point, the quiet power of it impressive. Excellent."
